Our Story

To increase awareness of the Physical Therapy profession, three Physical Therapy patch programs were created in 2012 and approved by GSUSA as Council Badges from 2013 until 2018. Developed while a student, Jazmine Tooles, PT, DPT, also a Lifetime Girl Scout; created these patch programs to teach 6th to 12th scouts about healthy living through exercise while allowing them to investigate professions that utilize exercise for healing such as Physical Therapy. No longer council owned badges, they are offered as Fun Patches scouts can purchase after attending an Explore Motion event hosted by a certified Inspire Motion Host.

In 2013, the original Explore Motion program was developed and successfully hosted by University of Delaware Clinic staff and students, to help girls earn the badges. The University of Delaware Physical Therapy Program hosts the event annually. With requests for it expand it has been hosted at clinics throughout New Jersey and additional programming has been developed for children (7-10). Explore the Magic of Motion has reached over 500 participants since its inception and grown to provide an interactive health and wellness learning experience, not only for the community, but for clinicians and students.
